Nested in the Northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia just 60 miles west of Washington, DC, is where the flagship station of Southern Light is located. WTRM went on the air in July, 1986 as a non-commercial listener supported station. The station broadcasts a Southern gospel style of music with many short featured programs throughout the day. These programs are family oriented and biblical in nature.
WTRM covers approximately 47,000 square miles reaching into Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. As WTRM grew, the demand for the station to be heard in the fringes meant adding translators. WTRM currently has four translators on the air and another 5 in process.
WTRM now has an uplink sending our signal over the whole continent including Southern Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and Central America. WTRM currently has two downlinks in Rochester and Hancock, New York that will soon become translators. WTRM has been approached by many other stations wanting to take it's feed as network affiliates.
Southern Light is the Network name and the format has been tailored for commercial or non commercial operstion.
